In this course, CAD Managers will learn about developing standards in MicroStation that will help their users to create design files that are uniform and follow company standards. Managers and Administrators will learn to create templates and seed files as well as customize the user interface.
Creating the Building Base Geometry, Column Grid and Walls

In this course, we will begin by creating a 2D base drawing (floor plan) using a seed file, learn about setting our architectural working units, correct scale and setting view attributes. Then attach external data, a structural grid as a reference file. We use several of the referencing tools and reference orientation commands. We will draw the exterior walls for the first floor using the structural grid as a guide. We continue placing walls, adding an 8” and 4” offset from our existing external wall to depict an 8” concrete masonry wall and a 4” brick wall.
Creating the Building Base-Generating Geometry, Doors, Windows and Wall Cleanup

In this course we place entry door cells into the exterior wall a specific distance from a known location. Then copy the existing door a specific value along the same wall. We then place a storefront or curtain wall symbol into the exterior wall and then mirror and copy it to the other side of the door, then complete the wall with a string of storefront symbols. We then place an array of curtain walls into the curved exterior wall. We complete the course with general trimming and cleanup of the exterior walls.

Annotating and Dimensioning the Building Base

In this course, we place a room label and annotate the design by placing a note that calls out the wall composition of the storefront. We further annotate the design by dimensioning the overall exterior of the building and part of column grid. We will use a dimension modification tool as well. And we add definition to our plan by attaching an existing site plan and building footprint learning attachment methods and reference file manipulation.
