One of the joys of ABD SS6 is the updated DataGroup interface where you can choose to locate new or copied items in Company or Project locations.
Out of the box, new or copied Company items are put in their own files in the delivered dataset in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_<Region Code>.
To make best use of Company parts they obviously want to be in a shared location available to everyone.
To achieve this the techniques previously discussed in this blog (previous posts Configuring AECOsim Building Designer #2 – Adding a Company Dataset to the Simple Test Project and Configuring AECOsim Building Designer #3 – Put a Company Dataset on the network) apply and can be used to create and use a discrete set of folders for company content.
I have just published an updated QuickConfig for ABD SS6, see AECOsim Building Designer SS6 - QuickConfig. This already includes the configuration and described below in 01_Company_Dataset.cfg
To updating existing configurations try the following:
Alongside your site Standards.cfg, create Company_Dataset.cfg containing this text (with amendments where required to suit existing configurations).
COMP_DATASET defines the Company dataset location. (The syntax used here applies where _USTN_SITE points to a Standards folder and the Company Dataset folder is at the same level. The 'parentdevdir' operator says "look in the parent folder of _USTN_SITE. This is useful to keep the top level folder structure of a workspace flat.)
Once COMP_DATASET is defined then the subsequent Company Dataset paths prepend the Company dataset folders to existing values for the variables concerned so previously configured resources remain available. If there are other resources that you wish to provide at the company level then add a folder in the COMP_DATASET location and the corresponding variable. I think the set here is fairly complete but there may be appropriate additions.
BB_ANNOTATION_CELLLIB is set to specify (not prepend) a company location for the DataGroup Annotation cell library (Annotation_DG.cel) so the source cells can be set at a company level. This can be overridden by a similar statement in a Project Configuration File if project variations are needed.
When Company is selected the toe Destination pop-down menu shown above, BB_DATASET_COMPANY_FILTER directs the resulting content to the Company folders.
